During the early 19th century, as London expanded, the Manor of Stoke Newington was "enfranchised" to be sold in parcels as freehold land for building purposes. Gradually the village became absorbed into the seamless expansion of London. It was no longer a separate village by the mid-to-late 19th century.
The modern London Borough of Hackney was formed in 1965 by the merger of three former Metropolitan Boroughs, Hackney and the smaller authorities of Stoke Newington and Shoreditch. These Metropolitan Boroughs had been in existence since 1899.

The very small hamlet of Charlottenbrunn (Jedlina-Zdrój) was outside the city of Waldenburg (Walbrzych) and in 'Landkreis Waldenburg', Germany (now Poland). After the 2nd world war, this land was ceeded to Poland and hence renamed.
During the period of economic development the district of Waldenburg became one of the largest coal mining districts in Silesia. It was a refuge for workers of the declining weaving cottage industry in the rural vicinities. Lutheran-evangelic Waldenburg also became the new home of the Catholic communities from the district of Glatz, Reichenbach, Upper Silesia, Bohemia and even from East- and West Prussia. For many, Waldenburg was the stepping stone to the Ruhr district, Alsace and even to America.

Gin Gin (pop. 3,000) is 51 kilometers west of Bundaberg. This is where the Bruce Highway from Childers joins up with the northern access to Bundaberg.
The town is in a part of what used to be Gin Gin Station owned by Sir Thomas McIllwraith, former Premier of Queensland. It was settled about 1847 by Gregory Blaxland and William Forster.
The district was the haunt of the "Wild Scotsman" (James McPherson), Queensland's only authentic bushranger. He would lay in wait for the mail delivery and hold up the carrier. Eventually he was captured at Monduran Station and convicted at Maryborough. A re-enactment of the event is held on the fourth weekend of March every year. The society has purchased the police sergeant's residence to house the district's pioneering memorabilia.

If you came from Christ Church itself (the church) and crossed over Surrey Street going east, this would have taken you over to Church Street. John Street was first left off Church Street
Everything was destroyed in the WW2 blitz. Nearest road today is Robinson Rd, off Blackfriars Rd.

The Society for the Relief of Destitute Children opened an asylum for children in Ormond House, a mansion on Oxford Street, Paddington, on 4 June 1852. The Asylum held 150 children aged 3 to 10 years who were defined as needy yet had not been admitted to the Orphan Schools.
The Government granted 60 acres at High Cross, Randwick and a bequest of £11000 from the Society's first medical officer meant that a building to accommodate 400 children could be constructed and the Society relocated to the Randwick Asylum for Destitute Children on 28 March 1858.
The Randwick site included a farm where the boys learnt farming skills.

During the early 19th century, as London expanded, the Manor of Stoke Newington was "enfranchised" to be sold in parcels as freehold land for building purposes. Gradually the village became absorbed into the seamless expansion of London. It was no longer a separate village by the mid-to-late 19th century.
The modern London Borough of Hackney was formed in 1965 by the merger of three former Metropolitan Boroughs, Hackney and the smaller authorities of Stoke Newington and Shoreditch. These Metropolitan Boroughs had been in existence since 1899.
