Anne's father was James Barker and her mother was Mary Bradford. Her paternal grandparents were James Barker and Margaret Newton. She had three brothers and four sisters, named James, John, Benjamin, Amy, Mary, Margaret and Sarah. She was the second oldest of the eight children.
