John was born in 1762 and his baptism took place on April 4th, 1762 in Castle Camps, Cambridgeshire, England.1  John's father was James Barker and his mother was Mary Claydon.  His maternal grandparents were Joshua Claydon and Elizabeth Ling. He had eight sisters named Sarah, Amy, Ann, Elizabeth, Margaret, Mary, Rachel and Ruth.  He was the second oldest of the nine children.
