Allan Odell research shows - "Ludwig Jensen sailed from Hamburg on the 10th April 1872 and arrived at Bowen on the 31st July"
His obituary confirms "was 22 years of age when he came to Australia. He landed in Bowen, nrth Qld"

The Port Dennison Times dated Saturday 3rd August 1872 printed the following from the captains log - "Captain Busch reports that the Humbolt left Hamburg 5 April ...". the log goes on in detail and mentions almost every landmark between here and Europe, weather condition and the dates. "...and on 23rd July arrived off Cape Moreton"
The Brisbane Courier, Wednesday 24 July 1872 reports "Arrivals, July 23, ship Humbolt, 6:45am. The vessel only called in here to obtain a pilot to take her to Bowen and Townsville, her ultimate destination.."
Captains log continues - "On the 24th, 6am, we got underway and proceeded to Port Dennison..." "...proceeded into Port Dennison, anchored at 10am 31st July, and was boarded by the Health Officer"
The Port Dennison Times article (3/8/72) continues - "the ship Humbolt arrived in port on Wednesday last, 31st July after 117 days from Hamburg.." ".. the party were hospitably received by Capt Busch and Dr. Meeh, surgeon superintendent..." "On Thursday by 8:30am the Humbolt was alongside the jetty.. and passengers landed by 11am"
An account by passenger and author Thorvald Weitmeyer reads "...we did not go alongside. We lay I think about a mile out and were given to understand that we were not to go ashore before tomorrow..."

His obituary shows  "..and went to Mackay with other Danish immigrants, where he worked in the sugar industry.."

An account by passenger and author Thorvald Weitmeyer in his book 'Searching for missing friends, being the adventure of a Danish immigrant' reads "54 Scandinavian immigrants were taken to Mackay on the 5th August by the 'Boomerang' from Bowen. 51 were engaged by local employers that same day and left for their several destinations, mostly plantations 10/8/72".
