Place Notes
The very small hamlet of Charlottenbrunn (Jedlina-Zdrój) was outside the city of Waldenburg (Walbrzych) and in 'Landkreis Waldenburg', Germany (now Poland). After the 2nd world war, this land was ceeded to Poland and hence renamed.
During the period of economic development the district of Waldenburg became one of the largest coal mining districts in Silesia. It was a refuge for workers of the declining weaving cottage industry in the rural vicinities. Lutheran-evangelic Waldenburg also became the new home of the Catholic communities from the district of Glatz, Reichenbach, Upper Silesia, Bohemia and even from East- and West Prussia. For many, Waldenburg was the stepping stone to the Ruhr district, Alsace and even to America.
