Louie's father was John Pithes Steed and her mother was Charlotte Haward.  Her paternal grandparents were Peter Steed and Elizabeth Pitches. She had two brothers and seven sisters, named Howard, Laurence, Fanny, Ellen, Lizzie, Amelia, Eliza, Letty and Sophy.  She died at the age of 77 in 1950.
