Edward was born on July 8th, 1918. Edward's father was Charles Edward Kapper and his mother was Olive Emmitt. His paternal grandparents were George Michel Kapper and Emma Lorette Kassulke. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Bernard, Oswald, Olive, Florence, Mavis and Dorothy. He is the third oldest of the seven children.
