Harriet was born on May 5th, 1821 in Camps Green, Castle Camps, Cambridgeshire, England and her baptism took place there on June 18th, 1821 conducted by Wilfrid Clark.1  Harriet's father was John Barker and her mother was Ann Mizen.  Her paternal grandparents were John Barker and Martha Stock; her maternal grandparents were John Mizen and Ann Theake. She had five brothers and two sisters, named Henry, Philip, Cornelius, Robert, Amos, Martha and Emma.  She was the fourth youngest of the eight children.
