Oswald was born on July 12th, 1926. Oswald's father was Charles Edward Kapper and his mother was Olive Emmitt. His paternal grandparents were George Michel Kapper and Emma Lorette Kassulke. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Edward, Bernard, Olive, Florence, Mavis and Dorothy. He is the second youngest of the seven children.
