Joseph was born in 1791 and his baptism took place on July 17th, 1791 in Honiton, Devon, England.¹

Joseph's father was Joseph Stone and his mother was Betty Reed.  His maternal grandparents were Thomas Reed and Hannah. He had three brothers and three sisters, named John, Jonas, Samuel, Ann, Mary and Jenny.  He was the youngest of the seven children.  He died about 1800.
