Donald, known as Monty, was born in 1898 in Bishops Stortford.1  Monty's father was Sidney Barker and his mother was Elizabeth (Lizzie) Ann Simms.  His paternal grandparents were William Barker and Harriett Louesa Ellis; his maternal grandparents were David Simms and Mary Ann. He had a brother and two sisters, named Sidney, Winifred and Louise.  He was the youngest of the four children. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Oliver and Ida.  He died at the age of 74 in 1972 in Plymouth, Devon, England.2
