Population schedule for England, Wales, Isle of Man and Channel Islands showing population as on the night of 6 June 1841
**The ages of people over 15 years old were usually rounded down to the nearest 5 years. For example, someone who was actually 24 years would have their age listed as 20, and someone who was actually 27 years old would have their age listed as 25.**
**The "Where Born" column only asked two questions - 1) whether born in same county, and 2) whether born in Scotland, Ireland, or Foreign Parts. Possible answers and abbreviations to question #1 include: Yes (Y), No, (N), or Not Known (NK). For question #2, the following abbreviations were used: Scotland (S), Ireland (I), and Foreign Parts (F).**
**Useful marks include a single slash between households within a building and a double slash separating households in separate buildings.**

Source Notes
Pallot's Index to Marriages is essential for researchers with London ancestry, as it covers all but two of the 103 parishes in the old City of London. The dates span the time from 1780 to the onset of General Registration in 1837. The more than 1.5 million marriage entries come mainly from London and Middlesex, but also include entries from 2500 parishes in 38 counties outside of London-many not available in other sources. Also included are several records from counties in Wales.
The index slips were handwritten on paper, and indexing continued regularly over a period of more than 150 years. Each slip identifies the church or chapel in which the marriage was celebrated, the names of bride and of groom, whether spinster, bachelor, widow or widower and sometimes other detail along with the date of the event.

Hello Heidi & Nial
Thanks for making the alterations I requested regarding the Family Tree info. However while I see my date of birth has been removed it's remains in 'Other Attributes' via 'Personal Timeline' & 'Individual Additional Information'. I'm sure this is an oversight but could you delete it please. I don't want my DOB to appear anywhere (the year is fine).
On Mum's page, her year of death has been corrected but Death Notes say 'KLB research shows date as 1989 yet both Rose & Cynthia state it to be 1988'. I don't know what the 'KLB research' is but it's just wrong so 'Death Notes' perpetuates an error. More disturbingly it gives an impression there is some doubt or dispute about the year which there isn't, nor has there ever been. If there is any error on any paper it would be a typo or in some other way unintentional. We know when Mum died because we were present as a family when her death took place. The death certificate will verify it but our living memory as a family is correct. While I'm positive it's not intentional, it's very distressing to have the year wrongly attributed at all. Could you please delete the Death Notes.
I can contribute the following info:
Ken Breusch - Bachelor of Arts (majoring in Economics) from the University of Qld. He also had a Diploma in Insurance Law.
Noela Kennett:
Mum was educated at Somerville House, Brisbane.
Her occupation is stated as pianist and artist. While an accomplished pianist in earlier years it was not an occupation.
Mum's occupation was hairdresser, and later artist.
After training & working as a hairdresser she opened her own salon, the Clayfield Beauty Salon, which she owned and operated in 1944 & 1945 in Clayfield, Brisbane.
She studied art under Melville Haysom and David Fowler in Brisbane, and later Nancy Curtis of the Royal Art Society, Broadbeach, Gold Coast & exhibited through the Queensland Room of MacDonald & East, the Redcliffe Art Society and numerous private galleries.
Arthur Hargreaves was a music teacher and between WWI & WWII owned a musical instrument repair business behind City Hall in Ann St, Brisbane. (He was also known as a popular mechanics & science fiction enthusiast.)
While his wife's name is not known (she was only ever referred to as 'Nan' by Mum & Dad so unfortunately we don't know her name)
we know she was a dressmaker/seamstress & was skilled at buying & selling property. She lived on the beachfront at Scarborough Qld until selling during WWII. She died when Mum was 13. [She was much beloved by Mum]
Poppoea Corralea Hargreaves : Corralie should be spelt Corralea. She was born in April 1903 & died in July 1963.
Her occupation was pianist for silent movies & the Lux Theatre Plays, in Brisbane.
Poppoea was not an only child - she had 2 brothers. They are :-
Les (probably short for Lesley), born in 1897. He was a businessman & tobacco agent in Melbourne.
Vivien ('Viv') was born in 1900. He was a wool classer. Later he worked in his father Arthur Hargreaves' musical instrument repair business in Ann St, Brisbane, in the early 1940's. (He also played the cello & double bass, and was an inventor.)
The above info was known to us or comes from written notes I made while Mum & Dad recounted family history one Sunday lunch in 1988.
cheers for now,
Cynthia

Subject: family history
Hello Nial,
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Frances Royal White and i live in NSW. I was born at Sydney on 20th August, 1940. My parents were Allan James Breusch and Edna Maud Nelson. They never married and parted when i was about 3 years old and i had contact with my father until 1955.
Allan was the son of Herbert Jensen and Franciska Breusch [nee Holz ].He had a sister Isabel who married John Kearney and they had a daughter Royal Mercia.
I know very little of my grandparents and would dearly love to see a photo of them.
A friend of mine did some research on the Breusch family and came across your family tree and because of you i was able to see what my greatgrandparents looked like and i was so thrilled.
I had contact with Royal [through another cousin Reg Breusch ] and she told him she wanted no contact with me and when asked stated she had no photos of our grandparents, which i can not believe.
In August last year i went to Queensland and was able to visit the graves of Ludwig and Karen and other Breusch family members at Bundaberg and Appletree Creek cemeteries.I felt more connected after this.
I have only become interested in family history in the last few years as i want my grandchildren to know more of their family than i did.
Well Nial i hope i haven't bored you but i would like to thank you for all your hard work in compiling your family tree and for sharing it.
yours sincerely,
Fran White.

This is a rough sketch. It appears to be the request to a stone engraver for an epitaph in memory of JT Stone's eldest two children who died as infants, and is to be placed on the family grave in Islington Cemetery. An obvious error is the year of Ethel's death, it cannot be 1885 but must be 1887.

The IGI is certainly the most comprehensive available index of English parish baptisms and marriages available. (Burials are not in the index, except for a few isolated examples).
The International Genealogical Index (IGI) lists the dates and places of births, christenings, and marriages for more than 285 million deceased people. Many of the names were extracted from original records from the early 1500s to the early 1900's. The index identifies only the parents or spouse of a person. It does not show family members linked together in pedigrees or family groups.
When you find a match in the IGI, select the item to see the IGI record. This will provide you with:
Name of the individual
Event type (e.g. birth, christening, marriage, etc.)
Event date
Event place
Name of the parents or spouse

Tamworth Circuit Court
(Abridged from the Tamworth News.)
The above court was opened on Thursday last before his Honor Mr. Justice Stephen. Mr. C. G. Heydon prosecuted for the Crown. The only other barrister present was Mr. J. Garland, jun.
William Jeal was arraigned on a charge that, on the 8th January last, at Kelly's Gully, Warialda, he did, without her consent, ravish and carnally know Emily Jeal, his own daughter, now about 18 years of age. Prisoner pleaded not guilty, and was defended by Mr. J. Garland, jun., who was instructed by Mr. Colin J. Ross. The Crown Prosecutor stated that the prisoner had been misconducting himself with this girl for the past three years, and on the occasion mentioned in the indictment assaulted her in a cornfield, and was seen in the act by a younger daughter. Prisoner had frequently threatened the girl Emily that if she made any complaint he would take her life, but after another subsequent and unsuccessful attempt, she told her mother, who gave information to the police.
The arresting constable, Hill, and prisoner's daughters gave evidence. Mr. Garland then addressed the jury, the defence set up being that the girl was a consenting party. The Crown Prosecutor replied. The jury, after deliberation, returned a verdict of guilty, and the Judge concurring in the verdict, sentenced the prisoner to be hanged by the neck until his body is dead.
